A transgender woman alleges discrimination after an OB-GYN refused to provide care for anatomy she doesn’t possess.

Jessica Yaniv, now using the name Jessica Simpson, is a Canadian trans activist who ignited controversy in 2018 by launching multiple human rights claims against estheticians who declined to wax her male genitals.
Simpson sought a Brazilian wax, a service that clears hair from the female pubic area. The equivalent for penile or scrotal regions—known as a “brozilian” or “manzilian”—requires specialized training distinct from women’s procedures.
At 37, Simpson retains her male genitals yet pursued legal action against five independent aestheticians for denying the service, seeking as much as $15,000 per provider.
“These providers were fine with everything until I disclosed my transgender status,” the British Columbia resident from Langley informed the tribunal, according to the Telegraph.
Simpson’s Clash with Estheticians
In 2019, Simpson lost this pivotal discrimination lawsuit and was ordered to compensate each of the three testifying respondents with $2,000.
The ruling highlighted her demonstrated hostility toward specific racial, religious, and cultural communities.
The respondents were minority home-based waxers with limited English skills, operating from their residences; Simpson’s complaints forced them to close shop.
They offered Brazilian waxes to female customers but lacked training or tools for male anatomy.
When pressed by a Calgary Herald journalist on whether she regretted shuttering those businesses, Simpson responded: “No, why would I? I was the real victim. In my view, every woman deserves equal treatment.”
Simpson’s Dispute with Fire Services
In the years that followed, this self-described activist—labeled a “serial filer of lawsuits” by a British Columbia Supreme Court judge—targeted beauty contests, the RCMP, provincial health authorities, and a local media outlet with complaints.

In February 2021, the Langley Fire Department issued a formal notice to Simpson after responding to over 30 non-emergency calls to assist her exiting the bathtub since late January.
“None qualified as medical urgencies,” the notice stated. “Moreover, during these visits, you exhibited improper and sexually suggestive behavior toward our personnel, fostering an unsafe workplace. The township deems this unacceptable and will not permit it henceforth.”
Simpson fired back via a now-deleted tweet, vowing per the Western Standard to sue the township for defamation and more.
Simpson Targets Gynecologist’s Practice
Undeterred by prior convictions for offenses like possessing banned weapons, vandalism, assault, and sending sexualized messages to minors—plus repeated racism allegations—Simpson thrives amid attention.
Her latest move: pursuing a gynecologist’s clinic that purportedly stated, “We don’t treat transgender patients.”
In a deleted Instagram update, she expressed being “stunned… bewildered… devastated.”
“Is this legal? Doesn’t it violate professional standards?” she posted, notifying the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC), the provincial medical regulator.
According to the Daily Mail, she told followers: “OB-GYNs form part of the care team for trans and non-binary individuals, handling transition surgeries or pre/post-op gynecological issues.”
She later asserted the CPSBC validated her discrimination claim, but no developments have surfaced since her 2019 filing.
Public Reactions
“Cosmetic procedures and hormone therapy don’t biologically convert a man into a woman, nor do they qualify every OB-GYN to treat a male presenting as female,” Kirralie Smith of Binary—a group opposing extreme gender ideology—told the outlet.
Smith added: “She requires a gender specialist, not women’s health experts.”
Comedian Ricky Gervais, renowned for sharp humor, weighed in: “Outrageous that a skilled gynecologist can deny examining a woman’s penis for ovarian cancer. What if her testicles are pregnant? She might miscarry. I’m furious,” he tweeted.

Healthcare providers are voicing concerns over stark anatomical variances between biological female organs and surgically constructed neo-vaginas, particularly for standard checkups.
Experts stress: “Regular gynecologic attention is essential for anyone with a cervix, vagina, uterus, ovaries, or fallopian tubes, irrespective of gender identity.”
Thus, those born male don’t require the same care as natal females—or trans men.
