How Melania responded to King Charles’ playful joke

King Charles has expressed a desire to modernize the monarchy since he took the throne.

During his royal duties, he often stops to chat with the public and frequently shares a joke. This was evident when he welcomed Donald and Melania Trump for their second state visit earlier this week. Charles greeted Melania with a joke, and her reaction was priceless.

In July, King Charles invited Donald Trump to visit. The president and first lady, Melania Trump, arrived in the UK on September 16, making history as the first president to have two state visits to the UK.

Donald and Charles spent a lot of time together, while Melania engaged with Kate Middleton and Queen Camilla. The POTUS and FLOTUS were first welcomed by Prince William and Kate before meeting the king and queen.

Charles is known for stopping to chat with the public, and he sometimes shares a joke. For instance, in a video released last December, the king was seen talking to some American tourists in Notting Hill, London, who were surprised by his appearance.

He approached them, saying apologetically: “I’m so sorry you’re being stopped from getting on the street.”

“Are you all trying to go somewhere else today?” he joked, adding about the rainy weather, “I hope you’re not getting too wet?”

King Charles made a joke while greeting Melania.

While joking with the public is one thing, meeting high-ranking officials and dignitaries might be different for a 76-year-old king. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case for King Charles.

During their meeting at Windsor Castle, when he greeted Melania Trump, a lip reader has revealed that Charles made a joke. Melania was wearing a large, wide-brimmed purple hat that sometimes covered her eyes.

Forensic lipreader Nicola Hickling told Metro that Donald started the conversation by saying to Charles, “How are you doing, it’s a pleasure, Your Majesty. Thank you for inviting me.”

King Charles then looked at Melania and joked, “I do hope the wind doesn’t blow away your hat,” which made the first lady laugh heartily.

Melania and her hats have been talked about a lot. She wore a similar black hat during her husband’s Inauguration Day in January, and just like that time, her hat caused some debate this time too.

Expert says Melania’s hat choice “wasn’t a coincidence.”

Stylist and Vogue employee Marian Kwei believes it was no accident that she picked that specific wide-brimmed hat for her meeting with King Charles and the senior members of the Royal Family.

Marian Kwei told the BBC, “The wide-brimmed hat that hides her face suggests she wants all the attention on her husband and his agenda while they are here.”
