Woman Identifies as ‘Abrosexual’ After Spending 30 Years Discovering Her True Self

After three decades of personal exploration, a woman has come forward to share that she identifies as abrosexual.

Emma Flint has embraced her sexual identity and now confidently labels herself as abrosexual. Unfortunately, not everyone in her life has been entirely accepting.

One friend responded to her revelation with skepticism, texting: “When did this happen? Is that even a real term? I mean, I support you, but I’ve never heard of this before—it doesn’t seem legit.”

Abrosexuality refers to a sexual or romantic orientation that can shift over time, with people experiencing varying attractions during different periods of their life.

According to WebMD, individuals who identify as abrosexual may notice that their sexual orientation evolves, sometimes frequently.

For Emma, discovering the term felt like everything finally clicked into place.

In an interview with Metro, she shared: “I didn’t come across the term abrosexual until I was 30, just two years ago. Before then, I had a hard time figuring out my sexuality because it kept changing so quickly,” she explained. “It’s always felt fluid to me.”

She continued, “I don’t expect everyone to immediately understand it—honestly, I didn’t know it existed until recently—but listening with empathy matters. Thankfully, most of my friends and family have been open-minded and eager to learn more.”

Emma also acknowledged the criticism she’s faced. “It’s tough to hear things like, ‘You’re just confused,’ or ‘Just call yourself bisexual already.’ But I won’t let other people’s lack of awareness define who I am,” she said. “Self-discovery is a lifelong process, and we’re all evolving.”

She hopes that one day abrosexuality will be widely accepted as just another valid identity, rather than dismissed as a passing trend or attention-seeking label.

“I no longer feel unsure about my sexuality,” she said. “It finally makes sense to me—and that’s what truly counts.”
