Woman Claims Seven-Year Infection Began After Ex Passed Gas in Her Face at Hotel

Seven years of suffering, all traced back to one unfortunate moment.

A woman has shared that she’s been dealing with a chronic infection for nearly a decade—something she says was triggered by her ex-boyfriend breaking wind directly in her face.

Christine Connell, a travel content creator with 78,000 Instagram followers, regularly posts snapshots of her globe-trotting adventures, from sun-drenched beaches to snow-covered peaks. But despite the glamorous lifestyle, she’s been quietly struggling with ongoing health problems.

According to the American influencer, the source of her issues can be traced to an incident that occurred in a hotel room seven years ago.

In a video posted to TikTok, Christine recounted a particularly bizarre case of what she described as “breakup revenge.” She explained that after undergoing ankle surgery, she was bedridden and unable to move when her then-boyfriend passed gas near her face.

The smell was so overpowering, she said, that it left her struggling to breathe. Though she initially brushed it off as just a gross, isolated moment, things soon took a turn. Christine began experiencing persistent sinus pain and nasal congestion shortly afterward.

Her symptoms included a fever and thick green mucus, leading to countless tests and doctor visits as she searched for answers. Despite numerous consultations, medical experts couldn’t determine what was causing her ongoing infection—until a nasal culture finally provided clarity.

In a TikTok update, she revealed the results: E. coli.

She added a caption to the video: “I wish I were joking.”

For context, E. coli is a type of bacteria commonly found in the intestines, most of which are harmless. However, some strains can cause serious infections, typically through contamination from fecal matter—whether on food, surfaces, or due to poor hygiene practices.

Christine reflected on this, noting: “It comes from poop. So how else would it get in your sinuses unless your boyfriend lets out the nastiest fart imaginable right in your face while you’re stuck in bed post-surgery?”

She emphasized just how foul the odor was, calling it the worst she’d ever experienced.

In a follow-up clip, she clarified the details: her boyfriend had been getting dressed at the time, with his backside unintentionally pointed in her direction as she lay in bed with her leg elevated. “That’s when it happened,” she said, stressing that it wasn’t deliberate—just bad luck and bad timing.

Christine theorized that her immune system might have been too focused on healing her injury, which possibly made her more vulnerable to the bacteria. “If I’d been healthy,” she said, “maybe it wouldn’t have stuck.”

She reiterated one last time just how awful the experience was: “When I say it was the worst fart of my life, I’m not exaggerating.”

A new nightmare unlocked—beware of butts.
