Christine Armstrong died in a terrifying shark attack – and her husband has a chilling theory about how the tragedy unfolded.
The tragic event took place on April 3, 2014. Christine Armstrong, aged 63, departed with her usual swimming group from Tathra Wharf heading towards Tathra Beach.
A long-standing member of the Tathra Surf Club, Christine was recognized as a proficient and committed swimmer. However, on that particular day, she allegedly informed the group that she was feeling unwell and opted to return alone, as reported by The Mirror.
Shortly thereafter, the group members noticed a fin in the water and turned back towards the shore, assuming that Christine had safely returned. Unfortunately, she had not.

The next day, Christine’s goggles, swim cap, and some remains were discovered washed up on the beach. Her body was never found. Authorities suspect that she was entirely consumed by a large shark.
Her husband, Rob Armstrong – who was swimming in close proximity at the time – later expressed to Sky News his belief in this theory. “The shark was of such a size that it essentially consumed her completely; she wouldn’t have even realized it was happening,” he stated to reporters.

Following her passing, Christine’s family issued a heartfelt statement, characterizing her as “deeply cherished by numerous individuals” and a “senior surf club trainer for many years.”
“She had been swimming at Tathra Beach for 14 years and was a dedicated and skilled member of the surf club,” her family remarked, as reported by VT.
“She served as a senior surf club trainer for many years, and swimming provided her with immense joy and a multitude of friendships.
“Her absence will be profoundly felt by all who cared for her, particularly by Rob, her spouse of 44 years.”
