Teen Tennis Standout Dies in Suspected DUI Crash Months After Losing Family Home to Fire

Braun Levi, an 18-year-old senior at Loyola High School, had already endured a life-altering tragedy when his family’s home was destroyed in the Palisades Fire this past January. Despite that loss, Braun continued to thrive—excelling academically, leading on the tennis team, and preparing to attend the University of Virginia.

But on May 4, another tragedy struck. Braun was fatally hit by an alleged drunk driver, identified as 33-year-old Jenia Belt, in Manhattan Beach. Though he was transported to the hospital, Braun succumbed to his injuries. His passing marks a second major loss for his family within just a few months.

Braun was widely admired at Loyola High, where he played Varsity tennis all four years and served as a respected and uplifting presence on campus. His humility, determination, and radiant smile left a lasting impression on those around him. The entire school and local community are mourning the heartbreaking loss.

Rather than celebrating his upcoming graduation, Braun’s family and friends are now preparing a memorial in his honor. His spirit, character, and accomplishments will continue to inspire long after his time.
