Rita Moreno, 92 dotes on her young grandson

A lot of the stars we admired are no longer with us. Among those who are still around, many prefer to keep their lives private and have stepped away from the spotlight. However, one star continues to shine brightly.

Rita Moreno is still a shining star today. She started her acting career more than 70 years ago and is still appearing on screens at the age of 92! She looks amazing and has a fantastic sense of humor.

Nowadays, she enjoys spending time with her family and loves to talk about her grandchildren. Keep reading to learn more about her grandson, who often hangs out with her.

Rita Moreno has achieved the prestigious EGOT status. This honor is only given to a few talented individuals every decade. It means that a star has won all four major awards: an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony!

The actress is really famous for her amazing roles in classic movies like “Singin’ in the Rain” from 1952 and “West Side Story” from 1961. Nowadays, she spends a lot of time with her family and is a proud grandmother to two young boys. She married Leonard Gordon, a retired heart doctor, in June 1965, and they were together for 45 years until he passed away in 2010.

Rita later talked about how she might have left her marriage because her husband was “very controlling.” She mentioned that her daughter was the main reason she stayed in that tough relationship because she didn’t want to get divorced and had no plans to be with anyone else.

Moreno had her only child, a daughter named Fernanda Luisa Gordon, in September 1967, just two years after getting married. She expressed how her daughter brought so much joy into her life, saying that Fernanda is like a light that keeps shining brighter as the years go by. She described her daughter as a wonderful gift that keeps on giving.

Fernanda’s journey

Fernanda followed her mom’s amazing example by becoming a singer and dancer. She even joined her mom on stage sometimes! She graduated cum laude from Tufts University, showing that she was smart too. Later, she got a Master of Fine Arts in acting from the University of Southern California.

In 2022, Fernanda shared some old photos with her mom on social media. In her post, she wrote, “You have always been an amazing mom – and have become a true friend. Grateful to share so many beautiful experiences with you, mí compañera.”

Fernanda got married to David Tyler Fisher in 1996. Back then, he was a manager at Andersen Consulting in San Ramon, California. Together, they have two sons, Justin and Cameron, who their grandmother Rita Moreno absolutely adores! During an interview at TIME’s Women of the Year Gala, Rita said she feels beautiful “when I’m looking into the eyes of my grandboys, and that’s one of them,” while pointing at Justin, who was with her at the event. The 92-year-old was so happy to have him there.

Rita proudly exclaimed, “I’m just so proud of him. I can’t stand myself. This is my boy.” Justin quickly replied, “Whether you’re 24 years old or 91 years young, it’s always a fun time with Rita.”

How Justin helped grandma

Moreno made history as the first Hispanic woman to win an Academy Award, and her family, especially her grandsons, are super proud of her accomplishments. In 2023, he went with Rita to the premiere of “80 for Brady” in Los Angeles. While on the red carpet, Justin shared a fun fact that not many people know. He mentioned, “It was my idea to get her in ‘Fast and Furious 10.’”

This happened after he met Vin Diesel for the first time at the “West Side Story” premiere in 2021. Moreno jokingly said she might owe her grandson a part of her earnings because of his suggestion. Justin then talked about how everything went down.

He described his meeting with Vin, saying, “[Vin and I] hung out and had drinks after the event, and he really likes my grandma. I told him, ‘You should work with her. She could be your grandma and give you a little smack. She has that special tone, you know, it’s all about the tone.’”

Justin’s mom, Fernanda, really loves him, just like his grandmother does. For his 23rd birthday, she shared a post on Instagram saying, “Hey @justinfish26! We’re thinking of you today on your special day and sending lots of hugs and high fives. We love you so much and are super proud of you. Keep enjoying life and having fun in Colorado!”

Now at 26, Justin still makes sure to spend time with his family. He recently posted a cute family photo with the caption, “Kicking off 2024 in a tropical way, thanks to La Familia y Pacifico.”

The youngest grandson

Cameron, who is Justin’s younger brother, is also a beloved member of the family. For his 21st birthday in 2021, their mom created a beautiful collage and wrote, “Happy 21st Birthday @cfishy1!!! We love you.”

Then, in May 2023, Fernanda proudly announced that Cameron had graduated. She shared a photo of him with Justin and Rita, saying, “Very #proudmama today! @cfishy1 graduated from the #BU school of communications with a double major in #film and #mediascience. #bravo Cam.”

Cameron usually stays out of the spotlight more than Justin does. It’s obvious that the family is really tight-knit and they all have a lot of love for their famous grandmother!
