Elijah Vue’s absence has never felt right for some reason.
An apartment filled with unanswered questions and months of searching without any sign of a boy—until now—and a child who disappears without a trace in the middle of winter.
The community is desperate for answers after the shocking discovery of human remains in the woods sparked conversations filled with suspicion and concern.
The remains found earlier this month belong to three-year-old Elijah Vue, who has been missing since February, as confirmed by the Two Rivers Police Department. Both Elijah’s mother and stepfather are currently facing accusations.
Authorities revealed on Friday that the human remains discovered last week are those of Elijah Vue, a toddler who went missing in Wisconsin back in February.
According to the police departments in the area, the identity of the remains has not yet been officially confirmed. On September 7, bones and a skull were found at a private property.
Police Chief Benjamin Meinnert expressed, “This is not the outcome we were hoping for. Our community and families are devastated.”
Reporters were not permitted to ask questions of Chief Meinnert.
What we know so far
A deer hunter preparing for the hunting season stumbled upon the bones. He immediately contacted the authorities after discovering skeletal remains on his property while clearing the area near two Wisconsin rivers.
Initially, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office stated that identifying the remains would take time. The remains were found just a few miles from where Elijah was last seen on February 20, buried in a dense forest area. Officials have searched this location multiple times over the past seven months but have not been able to find anything until now.

She collected various pieces of evidence during the investigation, including cars and red-and-white checkered blankets. Although they planned to continue their search in the coming weeks, the focus of the case has shifted after the discovery of Eliáš’s remains.
Meinnert urged the community to respect the family’s need for privacy as they cope with their loss.
He said, “I never had the chance to meet Elijah, but I witnessed how this wonderful community came together to support him.” I am truly grateful to the public and local businesses that offered help during this difficult time.
Details about Elijah’s disappearance
It was first reported that Jesse Vang, Elijah’s mother, went missing on February 20. Vang, who is 39 years old, told the police that she last saw Elijah around 8 a.m. when she made him stand by the bed and pray as a form of discipline. When Vang woke up nearly three hours later, Elijah was gone.
Vang called 911 to report the missing child around 11:00.

Katrina Baur, the mother of Elijah, was more than a hundred miles away in Wisconsin at that time.
In February, both Baur and Vang were arrested for child neglect in connection with Elijah’s disappearance. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for October 22 and September 27, respectively. The lawyers for Baur and Vang have not made any comments about the case.
A “Death Investigation” is currently in progress.
This investigation began after Elijah’s remains were discovered.
Meinnert mentioned, “We understand that the community wants answers, but to keep the investigation’s integrity intact, we need to hold back some details.” We are dedicated to uncovering the truth, even though it may take some time.

Officials are asking anyone who knows something to contact the police departments of the two rivers.
As the investigation moves forward, representatives from the Manitowoc District Prosecutor’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Justice will keep everyone updated.
In summary
The confirmation of Elijah Vue’s remains is a heartbreaking turn in a case that has deeply affected his family and the whole community. Finding justice and uncovering the full details of his disappearance are now the top priorities, while authorities continue their investigation. They also ask the public to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time, as law enforcement works hard to provide answers.
Officials promise to keep the community informed about any new developments through ongoing legal processes and a commitment to sharing all relevant information. They encourage anyone with information to come forward to ensure Elijah’s story is told and justice is served.
