Public Divided as Trump Grants Pardon to ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ Stars Todd and Julie Chrisley

Shortly after former President Donald Trump issued a complete pardon for Todd and Julie Chrisley—best known for their roles in the reality TV series Chrisley Knows Best—their daughter Savannah Chrisley addressed the public. The couple had been found guilty of multiple financial offenses, including tax evasion and bank fraud, and were serving lengthy prison sentences. Trump defended his decision, labeling the couple’s punishment as “excessive,” and personally informed their children of the pardon.

In an emotional video, Savannah described receiving a phone call from Trump, during which he delivered the news himself. She expressed heartfelt appreciation for the former president, his team, their attorneys, and those who supported them throughout their legal struggles. The Chrisley family is now preparing for Todd and Julie’s return home.

Their legal troubles began with a 2022 federal conviction on charges of conspiracy to defraud banks out of nearly $30 million via fraudulent loans, alongside tax evasion. Julie Chrisley faced additional charges, including wire fraud and obstruction of justice. Although they previously reached a settlement over state tax issues, the couple consistently maintained their innocence during the federal proceedings.

Trump’s move has drawn a mixed response. Some have applauded the pardon, viewing it as a correction of an overly harsh punishment, while others see it as political overreach that undermines judicial integrity. The Chrisleys’ attorneys have long argued that their clients were treated unfairly and that procedural flaws tainted the outcome of their trial.

With the pardon, the couple’s convictions are fully erased, and they are now free to rebuild their lives.
