In the last ten years or so, there has been a lot of news about the royal family, but one of the biggest stories came in 2020. That’s when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed that they would step back from their roles as senior royals and move to the United States.
Now, Harry and Meghan live in the U.S. with their two kids, Archie and Lilibet. Although they still have their royal titles, they no longer get financial help from the palace.

Over the years, there has been a lot of discussion about the issues within the royal family, especially regarding this specific separation. After moving to Montecito in Santa Barbara, California, they are focused on their own lives, working on the Archwell project, and exploring various business opportunities.
Even though there are clear differences between William and Harry now, people will always compare them. Since they have been in the public eye since they were kids, it’s hard for anyone not to see them that way.
William was born in 1982, while Harry was born in 1984. Their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, was one of the most adored members of the royal family during her time. She was married to Prince Charles and was often called the “People’s Princess.”
Paul Burrell, who was a butler for the late Princess, once shared his thoughts in an interview about how Diana would have felt about her sons growing apart. He said, “She’d be heartbroken. If she were still here, things wouldn’t have gotten this bad. She would have made them talk it out. She was probably the only one who could have done that. If Diana had been around, this rift would never have happened.”
He also mentioned how surprising it is that they have become so different, considering how close they were as kids. “I can’t wrap my head around it. I watched those boys grow up, and they were closer than you can imagine. They shared everything. When Diana passed away, I thought they would always be together.”

When Harry and Meghan chose to step back from their royal roles in 2020, it was a tough time for the whole royal family. Harry shared how challenging those moments were, especially after Meghan left the country. It was then that he, along with William, Charles, and the Queen, met at Sandringham.
He mentioned, “It was frightening to hear my brother yelling at me, and my dad saying things that weren’t true, while my grandmother just sat there quietly absorbing everything.”
“But you have to realize that from the family’s point of view, especially from Elizabeth’s, there are certain traditions to follow. Her main goal and duty is to protect the institution, and she will act based on the advice she receives.”
Harry also discussed the growing distance between him and his brother. He added, “I understand part of it – that’s his legacy, and he feels a strong sense of duty to ensure the institution continues.”
“I’ve come to terms with the fact that we might never receive real accountability or a true apology,” he said. “My wife and I are moving forward, focusing on what lies ahead.”
