Traveling to Mexico was a dream that finally came true for me. My husband, our two kids, and I were ready to have an amazing time together, and just thinking about it made me really happy. But when we got there, my husband’s actions made me start to doubt how he felt about me. He wouldn’t take any pictures with me, which left me feeling confused, and discovering the truth was heartbreaking.
As soon as we landed in Mexico, I was sure we would have the best time ever. Just days before our trip, I found out that I had inherited money and property from my uncle, and I was planning to share this news with Luke while we were on vacation.
However, his repeated refusal to take pictures with me raised some serious concerns.

Every time I asked him to take a picture, he would respond with, “Not now, Hannah,” or “I’m not in the mood for photos right now, maybe later.”
It was odd because snapping a quick picture only took a few seconds, but Luke didn’t seem to want to take that time for me.
This continued for several days, and then one day, he left his phone unlocked on the bed while he went to take a shower.
I felt like it would be wrong to invade his privacy, but I really needed to understand why Luke was acting this way.

Suddenly, I saw a message in the group chat with his friends.
“Can you believe it? At her size, she still wants me to take pictures of her,” he wrote. “Where would she even fit in the photo? She’s changed so much since having the baby.”
Those words broke my heart. I never knew my husband felt that way about how I looked.
Without thinking twice, I snapped a picture of myself and shared it online with the caption, “Am I really so unattractive that my husband doesn’t want to take my picture?”
Before long, I was flooded with supportive comments and messages.

When Luke came out of the bathroom and noticed my post, he acted like he had no clue about my reasons, so I had to jog his memory about the messages he sent to his friends.
“Just so you know, I inherited my uncle’s house and belongings, so I’m moving there and breaking up with you,” I told him.
I couldn’t stay with someone who thought I looked disgusting.
Once he found out about the inheritance, he began to apologize, but I could tell he was only sorry because of the money.

I gathered my bags, grabbed my kids, and we headed out, leaving Luke behind. I’m not sure what the future has in store for us, but I realize that being with someone like Luke isn’t what I truly deserve.
