Over twenty years after the September 11, 2001 attacks, fresh video of the Twin Towers falling down has come to light. Kei Sugimoto, the person who recorded the video, just shared it after finding some old tapes in his closet. A Reddit user commented, “It’s wild that we’re nearly 23 years later and still seeing new footage.”
Sugimoto filmed from the top of a building at 64 St Marks Place in New York City, giving us a special look at the towers coming down from the north side. The video shows the towers filled with smoke before they collapse, offering a “different view that you can’t see from the south or east,” as one person pointed out.
Ever since it came out on July 23, 2023, the video has sparked a lot of talk on the internet. One person shared their thoughts, saying, “It makes me think about all the history that might be hidden in people’s attics or basements, just waiting to be discovered.”
Sugimoto’s choice to show this footage gives us a fresh way to see 9/11 and helps us remember an event that really changed the world in the 21st century.
