Loren Schauers was ‘fully conscious’ throughout the terrifying ordeal
The man who was cut in half by a forklift accident bravely shared a horrifying photo from the scene were his life changed forever.
In September 2019, Loren Schauers was just 18 when he was involved in a freak accident while working as a labourer.
He was operating a forklift on a bridge in the US when it suddenly went off track, causing him to fall 50 feet down to the ground.
Even though the boy made it through the accident, he ended up with serious injuries that changed his life forever after a heavy four-ton vehicle landed on him and trapped him on the ground.

Schauers shared that he was awake the whole time during the terrifying experience. He made a courageous choice to have hemicorporectomy surgery, which means that everything below his waist was removed, to save his life after his pelvis got completely crushed.
Years on from the accident, the man has continued to open up about his life since, as well as sharing photos of the moment that nearly killed him.
Images show a forklift on its side off the side of a steep hill, with Schauers not visible under it.
On Instagram, he mentioned that if you take a good look at the second picture, you can spot him still stuck under the forklift. He also said that the last picture shows exactly what kind it was, and he’s really sure about that.

His girlfriend, who is now his wife, Sabia Reiche, was informed by doctors that Schauers wouldn’t make it. She had to say goodbye to him an incredible six times.
Miraculously, he pulled through, but it’s been a bumpy road to recovery.
He talked about the accident and mentioned that he was aware the whole time. He said he saw the forklift come down and hit him, which was really scary.
“Every medical professional I come across is pretty amazed by everything, especially with the story that comes along with my injuries.
Deciding to have half of my body amputated wasn’t tough at all. It was really about choosing to live or not. With Sabia promising to be there for me and my family all around me, it made the decision pretty easy!

A young man shares his experiences through vlogs on a YouTube channel he runs with his wife. In a Q&A session, someone asked them about their intimate life, and Reiche replied that it was ‘disrespectful’ to ask such a question.
She said: “A question we get repeatedly is how do we have sex and how do we become intimate.
“That is a very personal question that we are never going to answer or allude to as it’s very disrespectful.
You wouldn’t go up to a random couple on the street and ask them about their sex life, right? Just because our situations are different doesn’t mean it’s okay for people to ask those kinds of questions.
