Lady Gaga was featured in the second episode of “What’s Next? The Future With Bill Gates,” where she talked about why she chose not to respond to the rumors that were all over the news when she first started her career, including the wild claim that she was a man. Back in 2011, she famously dismissed a question about those rumors by saying to CNN, “Why would I waste my time making a statement about whether or not I have a penis? My fans don’t care, and I don’t either.”
Gaga shared with Bill Gates, “Back when I was in my early 20s, people were saying I was a man. I traveled all around the world for my tours and to promote my music, and in almost every interview, they would ask me about it. There were these edited pictures online, and they would say, ‘There are rumors that you’re a man. What do you think about that?'”
I didn’t answer the question because I didn’t see myself as a victim of that lie. I thought about how a kid who gets accused of something might feel if they saw someone like me feeling ashamed. Gaga went on to say, “There have been times when clearing up a rumor wasn’t the best thing for others. So, instead, I aimed to make people think differently and shake things up in another way. I wanted to take that false information and turn it into something that would really get people talking.”
Gaga talked about how she deals with false information by saying, “I’ve been dealing with lies about me since I was 20. As a performer, I find it a bit amusing.”
The Grammy and Oscar-winning star is getting ready for an exciting fall with the launch of “Joker: Folie à Deux,” which had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month. The movie will hit theaters on October 4, released by Warner Bros. Recently, Gaga reached the top of the music charts with her new song “Die With a Smile,” featuring Bruno Mars. Plus, she plans to drop the first single from her seventh studio album in October, with the complete album expected to come out in 2025.
