Joyful Flakefleet Primary School Choir Are Golden

Britain’s Got Talent really knows how to make us feel all the emotions! One of the most touching performances came from the Flakefleet Primary School choir from Lancashire.

Their headteacher, Dave McPartlin, led the choir onto the stage, and they were all wearing amazing costumes that promised a fantastic show for the judges. A 7-year-old choir member named Megan shared that they joined the competition because “I love singing!” Mr. McPartlin added with a smile, “Some of them are amazing singers, while others just really love to sing.”

The performance of Queen’s famous song ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ was totally wild! With colorful costumes, fun props, and huge masks of the judges’ faces, it was no wonder the judges and the audience jumped up in excitement. It was definitely a show-stopper, with Alesha Dixon saying, “That was absolute chaos and a joy to watch!” and Simon Cowell adding, “This is what Britain’s Got Talent is all about.”

Judge David Walliams was especially touched by the act. He was brought to tears and said, “You’re one of the most joyful things I’ve ever seen!” So, it was no surprise that Flakefleet Primary School became his Golden Buzzer choice! With that special button, they went straight to the live Semi-Finals, where they dazzled everyone again with their version of ‘Holding Out For A Hero’ by Bonnie Tyler.

Once more, the kids wore all sorts of costumes, and even Mr. McPartlin joined in the fun! He started off in a dress and then changed into a superhero outfit. The judges and audience loved it again, with Amanda Holden saying, “You bring so much happiness to us four and to the whole nation!” while Simon mentioned, “I think you have a chance of winning the whole show.”

It was no surprise when Flakefleet made it to the Final, where they performed ‘Rule the World’ by Take That in their usual chaotic style that everyone adores. The show kicked off with one child coming down from the ceiling dressed as a star, while Mr. McPartlin was dressed as the moon. Judge David Walliams praised his Golden Buzzer act, saying, “You’ve reminded us all why the nation fell in love with you the first time.” In the end, they finished sixth in the competition.

Mr. McPartlin is still the headteacher of Flakefleet Primary School! Even during the lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, he worked hard to help students across the country by teaming up with the BBC for a virtual homeschooling program. He provided reading sessions and short lessons in geography and history. He is definitely still spreading happiness to the new generation!
