Iconic 90s talk show host no longer recognizable as she claims Instagram won’t verify her account

Sally Lowenthal, who many remember as Sally Jessy Raphael, was super popular on daytime TV during the 80s and 90s. Now, though, she’s finding it hard for people to recognize her.

The ex-talk show host went on Instagram to say that the social media platform wouldn’t verify her account, even though she showed them proof of who she is.

“I’ve been trying to get my blue check on Instagram, but they just won’t give it to me, no matter how much proof I show them,” the 89-year-old shared with a picture of a huge blue checkmark. “Also, there’s a fake account named ‘realsallyjr’, and that’s definitely NOT me! Can you help me tell Instagram so we can sort this out?”

Raphael started her own show called The Sally Jessy Raphael Show, which was later renamed Sally, in October 1983. She continued to host this talk show, known for its tabloid style, until May 2002.

Her show was one of the earliest talk shows that let the audience get involved. She played a big role in opening doors for women in the industry, including Oprah, whose show started three years later than Sally’s.

Throughout 20 seasons, Raphael talked to many famous people, but she always said that Audrey Hepburn was her number one favorite.

I was completely amazed and couldn’t even think of a question to ask. I looked up to everything she did. All the things she accomplished in her life seemed really impressive to me, she shared with the DailyMail.

During her whole career and even after she retired, Raphael has kept a unique style that really makes her noticeable in any crowd.

When filming began for The Sally Jessy Raphael Show, she realized she couldn’t see the teleprompter.

“When we started, I looked at the teleprompter and I said ”I can’t read that! I’m going blind!’ “

While looking for a new prescription, Raphael stumbled upon an unusual advertisement that offered an eye exam, glasses, and a Pap smear. Even though the ad was strange, the talk show host decided to make an appointment.

At her appointment, they informed her that she would need to get a pricier pair of glasses, but sadly, the only color available was red.

“You got it,” Raphael said.

Although she didn’t anticipate the trouble she’d face from the producers of her show.

“I had to fight to have the glasses. Producers tried to change them. Those shadowy figures objected to everything.”

She has since accumulated over 200 pairs of red glasses.

As of August 2, Raphael has under 650 followers on Instagram. While her follower count may not be as high as some other talk show hosts, her fans are super supportive and make just as much noise, if not more!

“The Icon, the Legend of daytime TV, Ms. Sally Jessy Raphael needs her Blue Check Mark ? “

It’s really surprising that someone as well-known as you is having a hard time getting recognized. I’m curious about what the problem might be, though.

“We should flood your feed with blue hearts it’s so much better than a blue checkmark”
