Parents everywhere share a common worry about their kids. They always want to ensure their children are healthy and protected.
The Robinson family felt the same way, so they aimed to make their baby’s room as safe as it could be. They got everything ready ahead of time while Mrs. Robinson was expecting and preparing for their second child.
When their son was born, they were super excited to bring him home. But they also really loved animals and wanted to add a new dog to their family.
The tricky part was that they wanted to get a puppy just before the baby came home. So, they took their 6-year-old son with them to an animal shelter. They were on the lookout for a puppy that could grow up with the kids and be a good buddy.
At the shelter, they heard many stories about the tough lives the animals had before getting there. But as they were leaving, they spotted Benson, a 4-year-old pitbull.
Benson was shy and standing with his tail tucked between his legs. It seemed as if he had given up on humanity altogether.
Benson was found on the streets after being used as a fighting dog, and the shelter explained that he had been abandoned. When volunteers rescued him and brought him to the shelter, he was adopted by a couple, but they returned him because he showed aggressive behavior.
The shelter advised against the Robinsons taking Benson home, but they were determined. They dedicated time to train him, teaching him how to walk on a leash and building a connection with him.
When a new baby joined the family, they introduced Benson to the infant. The pit bull sniffed and licked the baby’s face, showing that a bond was starting to form.
However, there was a moment when Benson began barking and tried to bite the crib bars to get closer. The family got scared, thinking he might hurt the baby, but when they picked the baby up, they noticed he wasn’t breathing.
Luckily, the doctors at the hospital managed to revive the baby. They informed the Robinsons that if they hadn’t rushed to the hospital, the situation could have ended very badly.
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes but this particular hero has four legs, a tail, and is a loved part of the family.
