In 2023, Fox brought back “Kitchen Nightmares,” featuring the famous chef Gordon Ramsay, and they are now filming in New Orleans again.
The city of New Orleans has given the green light for filming permits so that the show can be filmed at Verdict Lounge, which is found in New Orleans East at 9301 Lake Forest Blvd.
The permit made it possible for filming to start last Saturday and continue until Thursday.
1. The Verdict Lounge calls itself a “cool restaurant for adults” on its website. It has a really high rating of 4.8 on Yelp and 4.7 on Google Reviews. Even though there are two 1-star reviews on Google that didn’t like the food, service, and vibe of the place, most of the recent reviews are actually really good.
The restaurant, which is owned by Black entrepreneurs, offers delicious Southern food. Right now, their menu includes tasty dishes like gumbo, egg rolls, seafood platters, and bone-in wings, among other options.
It’s not surprising that a restaurant from New Orleans is featured again on the makeover show where Ramsay looks at different eateries, identifies their issues, and gives advice to help them stay open.
Before the show was brought back, one of the highest-rated episodes was shot at Oceana Grill, a restaurant in the French Quarter, back in 2011. However, this led to some legal issues afterward.
When the episode was shown, the company that owns Oceana Grill, called Cajun Conti, took legal action against the creators of the TV show. They argued that the restaurant was shown in a bad light and said that the show included “made-up and fake events” without getting the right permissions first.
The owners of the restaurant said they worked things out without going to court. But in 2018, when Fox showed some old clips of the show again, Cajun Conti decided to sue once more, asking for money because of the clips being shown again. Eventually, the case was thrown out.
In 2011, Ramsay visited Zeke’s Family Restaurant for an episode of “Kitchen Nightmares.” Unfortunately, the restaurant has since shut down.
In another series called “24 Hours to Hell and Back,” Ramsay visited two other local places, the Trolley Stop and the Old Coffee Pot, but both of them have shut down too.
Fox has yet to release information on season nine of “Kitchen Nightmares.”
