Since Bruce Willis found out he has aphasia, which makes it hard for him to talk, he has been staying out of the spotlight. His family has shared that he actually has frontotemporal dementia, and they have been letting fans know how he’s doing.
Our family would like to say a huge thank you for all the amazing love, support, and beautiful stories we’ve gotten since we shared Bruce’s diagnosis, Rumer Willis wrote on social media.
We wanted to share some news about our amazing husband, father, and friend because we now have a better idea of what he’s going through.
Since we shared the news about Bruce having aphasia in the spring of 2022, his health has changed, and we now know he has a more specific condition called frontotemporal dementia, or FTD for short.
The family further added that as the actor’s cognitive abilities are affected more and more, doctors do all in their power to make things easy for him.
Emma Heming, who is married to Bruce Willis, is teaming up with a dementia expert to ensure that the Die Hard actor gets the best care he can. She shared, “My sadness can feel overwhelming, but I’m figuring out how to live with it. My step-daughter, Scout Willis, reminded me that grief is the deepest and truest kind of love. I hope you can find some comfort in that as well,” she expressed in 2022.
Emma just found out about a cool new feature on Instagram that shows you old photos and videos you’ve posted. She decided to share a memory of Willis complimenting her from a year ago. In her caption, she wrote: “What’s this new Memory thing on IG!? OMG, my number one fan. I totally love him.”
In the video, Willis could be heard saying he’s ‘crazy’ about his wife’s skincare brand called Cocobaba.
Willis’ co-workers saw that he was having a hard time remembering his lines before the family talked about his diagnosis.
“It was less of an annoyance and more like: ‘How do we not make Bruce look bad?’
A crew member said about Willis in his new movie, White Elephant, “Someone would tell him something, and he didn’t get what it meant. It was like he was being controlled like a puppet.”
