Blues Brothers actress Dalyce Curry dies in LA wildfires

The wildfires that have swept through Southern California in the last week are being recognized as some of the worst in the history of the United States. As of now, around 25 people have tragically lost their lives due to this disaster, and many more have been forced to leave their homes and may lose their businesses.

According to reports, Dalyce Kelley, who is the granddaughter of Dalyce Curry, shared on Facebook earlier this week that her grandmother’s remains were found just before 6 PM local time on Sunday, January 12.

Kelley shared on social media, “We had an amazing time together. She changed my life in so many ways. This loss is really hard to handle.”

As reported by the Daily Mail, Kelley also talked about the last words of 95-year-old Curry before the wildfires got too close to her house on Krenz Street. On January 8, just after midnight, Kelley and Curry returned to Curry’s home after being at the hospital and noticed smoke about four miles away.

At that moment, there was no evacuation order, so they weren’t too worried, thinking the fire was too far to reach Curry’s home.

Kelley remembered their last meeting, saying, “She gave me a big, wet kiss and told me she loved me. I replied, ‘I love you too,’ and made sure she was safe inside. We were both really tired from our long day at the hospital, and I didn’t think she was in any danger since there was no evacuation order then.

“Sometimes her kisses were so wet that I had to wipe my face afterward. That was just her way of showing love. We kissed, said our goodbyes, and I drove home. That was the last thing we said to each other.”

A few hours later, Kelley woke up to the news that the Eaton Fire had spread and destroyed several blocks in Altadena. When she got there, police were already setting up barriers around the area.

She described it: “Everything was black, and I panicked because it felt like I was in a nightmare.”

A man walked by and shouted that his entire house had burned down.

Kelley gave her grandmother’s address to an officer, who later called to inform her that Curry’s home had been completely lost. A few days later, she went to the site, but her hopes that her grandmother had been evacuated were crushed when she received a call from the county Medical Examiner confirming that Curry’s remains had been found at her house.

Rest in peace to all the victims of the ongoing wildfires in California.
