Just a year after she legally removed “Pitt” from her name, Shiloh Jolie has taken another bold step — and this time, it’s surprising everyone.
Now at 19, she’s coming back with a completely new identity, and the world only learned about it through a subtle mention in an unexpected press release. So what is her new name? Let’s just say… it signifies a fresh start.
For years, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has been one of the most discussed celebrity kids around. As the daughter of Hollywood superstars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, she grew up under the harsh spotlight — making news for everything from her changing fashion sense to her striking resemblance to both of her parents. But maybe the biggest news about Shiloh came just last year.
At that time, Shiloh announced that she had decided to drop her father’s last name after experiencing “painful events.” In California, changing one’s name legally involves submitting official documents and publishing a public notice of the intent in a newspaper for four weeks before a judge can approve the change.
Brad’s reaction to the change
Shiloh began that process on her 18th birthday, May 27, and later published a legal notice in the Los Angeles Times, indicating her request to change her name from “Shiloh Jolie-Pitt” to just “Shiloh Jolie.”
In May 2024, shortly after her request was submitted, a source close to Brad Pitt informed People that the actor was “aware” of the change.

A year after making headlines for legally dropping “Pitt” from her name, the 19-year-old is now using a completely new name — one that fans were unaware of until it appeared in a press release.
On May 29, Shiloh attended a fancy dinner in Los Angeles to celebrate the launch of fashion designer Isabel Marant’s new collection with Net-A-Porter, according to Variety.
Although she didn’t stay for long — just socializing during cocktail hour before leaving to join the dancers — her presence that night was important.
Shiloh took on the role of choreographer for rising musician Luella, whose performance of her new single “Naïve” included dancers Keoni Rose and Tako Suzuko. But it wasn’t only her work that drew attention — it was her name in the press release. For the first time, she was publicly called Shi Joli.
That’s right — Shiloh Jolie has seemingly transformed herself once again, this time adopting a sleek, artistic name that suits the creative journey she’s pursuing.
Her own identity
While the name might be new, Shiloh’s love for dance is well known. She’s trained a lot with LA-based choreographer Kolanie Marks, who has shared videos of her hard work on his Instagram.
And according to him, she didn’t exactly excel on her first day.
“I met Shiloh at my Millennium Class and she was going down in FLAMES …. She shouldn’t have been in there! However, I saw something that was authentic … she kept coming back and yes still going down in flames!” Kolanie shared. “Not until we started doing private one-on-ones! I’ve spent the most time with her out of anyone I’m training in LA! There’s something about her that doesn’t quit!”

Even though Shiloh was born into a famous Hollywood family, she seems set on creating her own path — both in her name and her career. With her new identity as Shi Joli, she’s proving to everyone that she’s ready to shine in the spotlight on her own terms.
“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name,” a source revealed. “The reminders that he’s lost his children are, of course, not easy for Brad. He loves his kids and misses them.”
Shiloh might be making news with her name changes, but she’s not the only one in the family moving away from the “Pitt” name. Her younger sister, Vivienne, was recently referred to as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for The Outsiders musical — a show she worked on with her mom, Angelina.
Last fall, the oldest sister Zahara also made a subtle but significant statement. When she was welcomed into the Mu Pi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha at Spelman College, Zahara introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie,” as shown in a video shared by Essence.
