A 32-year-old woman was attacked by a polar bear after she jumped into their enclosure at the Berlin Zoo.

A 32-year-old woman sustained multiple injuries after entering the polar bear enclosure at Berlin Zoo during feeding time on Friday.

Identified only as Mandy K, the woman climbed over a wall, passed through hedges, and crossed a barrier to access the bears’ habitat. Once inside, she was bitten several times before zoo staff could intervene.

Despite the efforts of six zookeepers, who tried to distract the four polar bears, one of the animals repeatedly bit her arms and legs. The zookeepers eventually managed to scare the bear away and pull the woman to safety7.

She was taken to the hospital, where she underwent surgery for her wounds and is now recovering. Reports later revealed that she is a teacher who had become despondent after being unable to find work.
