Alan Jackson’s concert at Two Step Inn on Saturday night got shut down, albeit temporarily, after the country music legend encouraged fans to “climb over them fences.”

Alan Jackson took the stage at the Two Step Inn music festival in Georgetown, Texas, on Saturday night (April 5) to a packed crowd. As the headliner for the first night of the two-day event, this marked both his debut performance at the festival and what could be his final appearance there as he looks ahead to retirement.

Things took an unexpected turn during Alan’s performance of his 2008 hit “Good Time.” Encouraging the audience to get involved, Alan urged them to “climb over them fences and dance up and down these aisles,” adding, “I don’t care. Let’s have a good time.”

However, event organizers did not share Alan’s enthusiasm. As fans began to climb the fences and crowd around the stage, organizers took action by cutting Alan’s microphone and halting the performance, much to the dismay of the crowd. Attendees later shared their frustration, feeling that the sudden interruption disrupted the fun of the moment.

Footage captured by concertgoers shows the 66-year-old country music legend encouraging fans to have a good time.

At first, the fans were unsure, but Alan cheered them on, saying, “Come on, everyone! Let’s enjoy ourselves!” Then, people started jumping over the barriers and dancing in front of the stage while one confused security guard didn’t know what to do. Jackson told a security guard, “Come on, dude. Let her dance.” The video also showed Alan coming back to the stage to say sorry.

“Sorry, y’all. I was just wantin’ to have a good time,” Jackson told the crowd.

Fans reacted to the moment and defended Alan Jackson.

After Alan Jackson wrapped up his performance of “Good Time,” the show came to an unexpected halt. According to attendees, organizers paused the concert for “5 to 7 minutes” while clearing the prohibited area, much to the frustration of many fans. The interruption sparked heated reactions, with some defending Alan’s desire for the audience to have fun and enjoy the moment.

One fan expressed their discontent, writing, “The 5-minute pause during the show really ruined the experience. If no one’s getting hurt, just let people enjoy themselves.” Another chimed in, “If Alan says it’s not a security issue, then it’s not a security issue.”

Others were equally vocal, with comments such as, “Most disrespectful buzzkill I’ve ever seen cutting Alan off. Two Step Inn knows how to ruin a show,” and “Imagine not letting people have a good time!” Several fans also criticized the timing of the interruption, noting, “One of his last shows in Texas and C3 cuts his microphone and paused him mid-show. Not a good look.”

The disruption has left many fans questioning the decision to halt the show and interrupt the festive atmosphere during such a special performance.

Alan Jackson’s wife made a rare appearance on stage to dance with him.

At another point in the concert, Jackson invited his wife of 45 years, Denise, to dance with him on stage. Alan was singing “Remember When” and asked his band to play without him. He then summons his wife to join him on stage for a sweet slow dance. They shared a kiss before Alan returned to the microphone to finish the song.

Denise Jackson has been a constant presence by her husband Alan’s side throughout his career, often seen in the audience during his Last Call: One More for the Road tour. Alan has frequently acknowledged her importance, taking moments on stage to praise her and share stories from his journey, crediting her with much of his success. However, her recent appearance alongside him on stage marked a particularly memorable moment for both of them.

Alan and Denise tied the knot in 1979, more than a decade before Alan became a household name in country music. While their marriage has experienced its fair share of challenges, Alan has consistently credited Denise for playing a key role in his career. Not only did she connect him to the legendary George Jones, but she has remained by his side through all the highs and lows of his life in the spotlight.

In 2008, Denise shared the secret to their enduring marriage: quality time together. “Even if it’s just getting up 30 minutes before the kids to have coffee together or sitting on the porch for 10 minutes to catch up on our day,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of shared moments, no matter how brief.

As Alan Jackson nears the end of his farewell tour, with only two stops left—Tampa on April 26 and Milwaukee on May 17—the couple’s bond remains as strong as ever, a testament to their lasting love and commitment.
