The highly anticipated Minecraft movie has sparked mixed reactions since its announcement. Despite some critics labeling it the “worst movie” of 2025, the Warner Bros. adaptation of the popular 2011 video game exceeded expectations by earning $162.75 million during its opening weekend, becoming the biggest box office debut of the year. The film, packed with Easter eggs, has caused quite a stir among fans, though opinions remain divided.
Amid the buzz, a controversy has emerged involving well-known streamer Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter. Valkyrae recently confirmed that her cameo in the Minecraft movie was cut following remarks she made about star Jason Momoa’s behavior on set.

In a September podcast with YouTuber JasonTheWeen, Valkyrae was asked about her worst experience with a celebrity or fellow streamer. Without hesitation, she named Jason Momoa, recounting how she witnessed him mistreating crew members after an intense and emotional scene. She speculated that perhaps he was still in character but expressed surprise at his harsh treatment of the staff. Valkyrae described Momoa as being very angry and yelling at the crew for not doing something correctly, creating a tense work environment she found unsettling.
After the film’s release, Valkyrae addressed the situation during a Twitch stream, revealing that her scene was ultimately removed. She explained that her screen time would have been about 30 seconds, similar to other creators featured in the movie, but she preferred not to appear at all rather than risk legal trouble.

Despite the cut, Valkyrae spoke positively about her experience filming in New Zealand, calling it an “amazing” 10 days. She emphasized that her removal was not the fault of the Minecraft production team and expressed no ill will toward the project.
