During a UFC 314 event in Miami, Donald Trump appeared to pass over Cheryl Hines’ attempt to greet him, despite later interaction during the night.
On April 12, actress Cheryl Hines attended the match with her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., seated just behind former President Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk at the Kaseya Center. Also present were several individuals close to Trump, including Kash Patel.
Footage from the event, widely circulated on social media, shows Trump greeting attendees as he makes his way through the crowd. He’s seen shaking hands with Kennedy—now serving as his Health and Human Services Secretary—and even pulling him in for a brief hug.
Right after that exchange, Hines, 59, is visible reaching out her hand toward Trump. Despite looking directly at her, he walks past without acknowledging the gesture.

Later in the evening, however, a separate video surfaced showing Trump engaging in conversation with Hines, who remained seated a row behind him.
A source close to the situation told PEOPLE that the moment was “simply an accidental oversight,” suggesting the snub wasn’t deliberate given the size and energy of the crowd at the public event.
As of April 13, representatives for Trump had not responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Hines has been a consistent supporter of her husband, including his path to securing a position within Trump’s cabinet. Earlier in January, she was present during Kennedy’s Senate confirmation hearing after Trump nominated him to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.
In a prior report from November 2024, a source shared that Hines was adapting to her husband’s growing alignment with Trump. “She wasn’t thrilled with his decision to join Trump’s team, but she’s choosing to support him,” the insider said. “Her loyalty to Bobby is strong.”

Despite her support, Hines has openly criticized Trump in the past. In a January 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she commented on a 2016 incident where Trump publicly mocked Senator Ted Cruz’s wife’s appearance, calling it “disrespectful and absurd.”
“She wasn’t even involved in the situation, and yet he targeted her,” Hines said at the time. “I’m sure Ted Cruz won’t forget that. But ironically, when Trump became president, Cruz seemed completely fine with it.”
Reflecting on her past frustrations, Hines admitted she struggled to come to terms with Trump’s presidency. “I kept thinking, ‘Why am I holding onto this so tightly?’ I realized I had to let it go just to get through those four years,” she shared.
This wasn’t Hines’ first public interaction with Trump. She also stood beside her husband on February 13 during his swearing-in ceremony, where Trump greeted her with a hug.
