AI expert says Elon Musk’s latest NSFW chatbot could lead to ‘plunging global birth rates’

Who needs to have kids when you can chat with AI that gets a little spicy?

Elon Musk has become a big name in electric cars and even space travel over the years. But what’s his next move? It looks like he’s diving into phone chats with AI chatbots! Grok 3, the chatbot created by Musk’s company xAI, has a wild side and isn’t afraid to get a bit risqué.

Right now, Grok has a free version that will eagerly respond to anything you say, even if it’s not safe for work. If you want to take it up a notch, the paid version offers voice replies with different options, including a flirty female voice.

AI experts are raising alarms about how popular apps like Grok could actually lead to fewer babies being born around the world. Nell Watson, an AI expert and author of “Taming the Machine,” has shared her worries about how AI might disrupt real human connections, especially for people who feel lonely or vulnerable.

Watson likens the chatbot to sirens from mythology, who would charm sailors with their beauty and song, leading them to danger. While Grok isn’t dragging anyone to their doom, she believes it could change how we view relationships by providing users with an idealized experience that meets all their desires.

Even though Grok currently only uses text and voice, Watson thinks that soon we might see this technology in physical forms, which matches Elon Musk’s prediction that sex robots could be available in the next five years. With both Musk and Watson foreseeing this technology becoming more physical, Watson warns that it could further decrease birth rates as it becomes more widespread.

Tesla’s Optimus robots have shown just how lifelike robots can be, which raises the question: is Musk thinking about creating his own line of personal robots that mix his AI technology with robotics?

Some experts disagree with Watson, arguing that platforms like OnlyFans and online chat rooms already provide alternatives to real human interactions. Plus, with Elon Musk reportedly welcoming his 14th child this week, maybe spending some time on Grok would be a good idea for him.

Right now, Grok 3 is free to use, but the premium version of the AI chatbot, which includes a voice mode, costs a hefty £30 each month, making it one of the priciest AI chatbots available today. If you want an AI tool that really delivers, Grok is definitely a solid choice.
