Kirk Cameron is now among the famous people who are leaving California. The actor from Growing Pains shared his choice to leave the Golden State on Wednesday.
He explained that his decision to move away was influenced by seeing California “going in a certain direction for a long time” and causing “a lot of division.”
As a father of six, he mentioned that he relocated to Tennessee partly because three of his adult kids live there and partly because he wanted to find a place that offered a “healthy freedom mindset.”
“If everything hits the fan and there’s some serious economic problems and division going on, they want to be around people like they think who are all about God, family, and country. It’s a really nice place to be,” he told the Washington Examiner.
Cameron found out that there are a ton of people from California now living in Tennessee, whether he likes it or not.
“It’s crazy how many Californians are around here. When I bump into them at the grocery store, I jokingly say, ‘Don’t California our Tennessee,’” he said with a laugh.
Just like his sister, Candace Cameron Bure, many folks have moved from California “looking for safety and security.”
Cameron thinks that even though there are a lot of people from California in Tennessee, the state’s “great values and, just as important, good whiskey” make it a better place to call home.
