Kevin Costner used to be one of the most attractive guys in Hollywood, but after spending so much time filming in the hot sun, he’s starting to look a bit like a “toad.”
A doctor has pointed out that his “blotchy skin” could be a serious warning sign of cancer, and he advised that if Kevin doesn’t take better care of himself, he might regret it later.
Since 2017, Kevin has been both producing and acting in Yellowstone, a TV show that focuses on the struggles between ranching families in Yellowstone National Park.
The 69-year-old cowboy, who plays the head of the Dutton family in the show, spent a lot of time riding horses in the hot sun at the made-up Broken Rock Indian Reservation.
However, in June 2024, the recently divorced actor revealed that he would be leaving the ranch to become a homesteader in Arizona for the movie Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1, which he stars in and produces, but it didn’t do well at the box office.
“After a long year and a half working on Horizon and thinking about Yellowstone, I realized I can’t keep going,” the Wyatt Earp star told his fans on social media.
“It was a life-changing experience for me. I loved it, and I know you did too. I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be coming back.”
Fans reacted to his announcement with disappointment in the comments on his social media. Some wished him well, while others mentioned that he looked “worn out.”
One fan wrote, “John Dutton was the greatest; a true legend. It won’t be the same without you.” Another said, “I’m so heartbroken about this.”
A third fan, pointing out that he looks tired, commented, “The show definitely won’t be the same without you… You still look handsome, but you seem worn out and older.”

That fan isn’t the only one who’s noticed that the star of Dancing with Wolves is looking a bit weathered.
‘A toad has better skin’
A source is cautioning that the celebrity might face a health issue if he doesn’t take more precautions while shooting in the sun.
The source tells a news outlet that Costner’s “face is spotty from all the suntanning and probably sunburning he’s been through.”
His forehead has a lot of tiny lines that show a similar tale, along with some not-so-great wrinkles around his eyes. The insider adds, “His neck is the worst part. A toad has smoother skin than Kevin. But he doesn’t seem to notice how bad all those UV rays can be, and that might cause him problems later on.”
The source suggests that the actor and filmmaker should “apply sunscreen generously and dress appropriately,” and cautions that “he might regret it. Skin cancer is a serious issue.”
Kevin Costner displaying ‘harm’
Dr. Gabe Mirkin, who doesn’t treat Costner, shares this view and mentions that the Field of Dreams star is already showing signs of “harm.”
Mirkin recommends that Costner “visit a dermatologist every year and get each basal cell taken off before it spreads further.”
Basal cell carcinoma is the “most common type of cancer, “According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association (AAD). The organization says that people with “a lighter skin tone” who seldom protect the “skin from the sun” or use tanning beds, are at “a greater risk of developing” skin cancers.
Before basal cell carcinoma appears, individuals with lighter skin often see early signs of sun damage on their skin. This can include things like age spots, uneven skin color, and deep wrinkles. These changes can happen many years before cancer actually develops.
According to Mirkin, most skin cancers are basal cell cancers, which typically don’t spread to other areas of the body, making them generally not life-threatening.
However, the doctor also mentions that once someone starts getting skin cancers, they usually need to visit the dermatologist regularly for the rest of their life because new ones keep appearing.
If you’re wondering how Costner’s character on Yellowstone makes his exit, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Costner has a “moral death” cause in his contract, which means “the actor has a say about how John Dutton can or can’t be killed on the show.”

We can be glad that the chances of him actually dying from cancer in real life are pretty slim.
