Little girl who looked 8 months’ pregnant because of deadly disease is saved thanks to dad’s kidney donation

Every parents’ biggest wish is for their children to be healthy and experience a happy childhood.

When Karen Rodas and Paul Bybkin became parents to their son Nathaniel, they were overjoyed, but their happiness was short-lived. Nathaniel only lived for 36 hours because he was born with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), a serious condition that causes cysts to form in the kidneys. Sadly, this often leads to kidney failure, which is what happened to little Nathaniel.

In 2013, they welcomed a daughter named Maddy. However, their worst fears came true when they found out that Maddy also had the same condition as her brother. This news broke their hearts. Maddy’s belly was so swollen that it looked like a woman who was nine months pregnant.

This time, things changed for the better, and Maddy got a new chance at life because her dad donated one of his kidneys to her.

Maddy had a tough time before her important surgery. She was often in and out of hospitals and would sometimes sleep for as long as 18 hours a day.

The doctors told her family that for Maddy to have a chance at living like a normal kid, they needed to find the right donor.

Fortunately, her dad turned out to be a perfect match!

Karen shared her feelings, saying, “With Paul and Maddy, two of my most precious souls, going under the knife, my nerves were a wreck,” as reported by The Mirror.

The surgery went really well, and both Maddy and Paul healed perfectly.

Karen said, “Daddy’s kidney has really helped our little girl.” She smiled and continued, “Now she has so much energy! Her big tummy is just a little round now, and she’s a cheerful and healthy two-year-old.”

Paul feels like he just did what any dad would do for his child.

“It’s been a wild ride, but any father would have given their kidney to Maddy. That’s just what being a parent is all about,” he shared with The Mirror.

“Now we’re feeling great and can see Maddy grow up as a happy and healthy girl.”

She might need another kidney transplant in about 25 years, but until then, she has plenty of time to enjoy life and have fun.

We are really excited for this wonderful family and hope they find all the joy that life has to offer. Make sure to share this sweet story with your family and friends so they can also wish for happiness!
