Woman harshly criticized online after adopting husband’s ex-wife’s baby

Loving husband and wife Christie and Wesley Werts began their love story five years ago, becoming a blended family when they tied the knot.

The union of Christie’s daughter, Megan, with Wesley’s children, Austin and Dakota, resulted in the formation of a lovely family.

However, they were unaware that their romantic journey would take an extraordinary path, ultimately leading them to embrace a miracle baby, Levi, through the process of adoption.

The path to Levi’s adoption exemplified the couple’s strength and commitment. After a 16-month wait for the adoption process to be completed, the Werts family looked forward with great excitement to welcoming their baby boy into their home.

However, Levi’s adoption story has a touching twist that resembles a dream come true for Christie and her family. Born in Texas in August 2021, Levi’s biological mother, Wesley’s former partner, faced challenges related to drug use during pregnancy. Tragically, she passed away four days after Levi’s premature birth at 33 weeks, a victim of addiction and complications linked to the coronavirus, according to Newsweek.

The couple became aware of Levi when Wesley received the heartbreaking news regarding his ex-wife from her sister. Christie, having herself gone through the foster care system, was resolute in her desire to offer Levi a nurturing and stable environment.

Remarkably, prior to discovering Levi, Christie had been experiencing recurring dreams of a blue-eyed, blond baby for a span of three months. This dream played a crucial role in her decision to adopt Levi upon learning of his existence.

The Werts family traveled from Ohio to Texas to meet Levi through Child Protection Services, and their initial encounter mirrored Christie’s dream perfectly. “Upon entering the room and seeing this blond-haired, blue-eyed baby, I instantly fell in love. It was an incredibly surreal experience. This was my son,” she expressed.

The adoption process can be quite arduous, particularly in the case of infants, and the Werts family encountered additional challenges. They sold their home in Ohio and moved to Texas to participate in court proceedings, which necessitated navigating a legal process that included the termination of Levi’s biological father’s parental rights.

After enduring 16 months filled with house inspections, interviews, and court appearances, the adoption of Levi was successfully completed, allowing the couple to finally bring their baby boy home.

Nevertheless, despite the uplifting aspects of their journey, Christie received criticism from certain internet users who questioned her choice to publicly share their story.

“I mean, poor baby, he’s gonna see this when he grow up and is gonna give him a lot of depression and more,” someone remarked.

“Some things you don’t share on the media, and this is one of them?” said another user.

Other people were happy for the couple, and wrote that they wished the new family a happy live.
