BREAKING: Utah dad and daughter killed in freak accident after bulldozer flies off tow truck and crushes car. This is just horrifying…
A tragic incident in Ogden Canyon resulted in the deaths of a Utah father and his 16-year-old daughter when their pickup truck was hit by a bulldozer that was airborne.
Reports suggest that Richard Hendrickson, the Chief Executive Officer of Lifetime Products, was traveling in a car with his wife and three children when a tow truck, moving in the opposite direction, lost control of the mini bulldozer it was transporting, resulting in a collision with the family’s vehicle.
Hendrickson and his daughter Sally were killed at the spot. The rest of the passengers survived.
The tragic accident took place on Saturday, July 6 while the family were traveling up a narrow two-lane road in Ogden Canyon in eastern Weber County, Utah.
At approximately 12:49 p.m., the tow truck transporting heavy equipment was proceeding eastbound, according to the Department of Public Safety, when it attempted to make a turn.
While “negotiating a right-hand curve,” the “bulldozer broke free” from the tow truck and was launched into Hendrickson’s westbound GMC pickup, which was towing a boat.
The surviving passenger were treated for minor injuries.
Numerous tributes from family and friends have begun to emerge, characterizing Hendrickson as a “trusted and cherished” individual and a “visionary.”
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the untimely and tragic passing of our CEO and President, Richard David Hendrickson. This devastating event also resulted in the loss of one of his daughters, Sally,” Lifetime Products stated. The company described Hendrickson as “more than just a leader,” adding, “He was a visionary and a friend to many both within our organization and in the broader community.”

Barry Mower, the founder of the organization, remarked, “He was among my most trusted and beloved friends, and his absence will be profoundly felt.”
Utah Governor Spencer Cox conveyed his sympathies to the family on X, stating, “Richard was a remarkable leader and a dear friend. We are devastated by the tragic loss of both him and his daughter Sally. Our thoughts are with the remaining family members as we share in their grief and hope they find solace and healing.”

The position of Governor Cox has attracted significant attention. One individual remarked, “I am praying for Richard’s family; this is utterly senseless! Governor Cox, you and your administration must take action to implement strict regulations and impose severe penalties for unsafe loads.”
In the aftermath of the tragedy, a petition was launched to restrict larger vehicles from traversing the narrow “two-lane passageway” flanked by the Ogden River on one side and steep mountain cliffs on the other.
As of Tuesday, the petition, which seeks to collect 5,000 signatures, had received approximately 3,300. The petition articulates, “We are initiating this petition to enforce regulations regarding the types of vehicles allowed on Highway 39, which runs through the heart of Ogden Canyon. There is an urgent necessity to limit specific categories of vehicles permitted on this narrow roadway to ensure the safety of all who depend on it.”
Our thoughts and prayers go to the grieving family.
