Luca Manolache, a promising 19-year-old football player with Metaloglobus București, tragically passed away in February 2024. Known for his talent and dedication, Luca’s health began to deteriorate, with symptoms like fatigue, dizziness, and blood in his stool, making it difficult for him to continue playing. During a match, he experienced a health crisis, and his condition worsened further while out with a relative. In a heartbreaking phone call with his mother, Luca asked, “Do you think I’m dying?”
He was rushed to the hospital, but sadly, he passed away before reaching it. An autopsy later revealed that he died from drowning in his own stomach acid, caused by severe vomiting and aspiration. The sudden loss of the young athlete shocked the football world, particularly his team, Metaloglobus București, who honored him on social media, expressing their sorrow and admiration for his love of the sport.

Luca’s death serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life, even for young, healthy athletes. It also underscores the importance of early intervention when health issues arise. Luca’s memory lives on through those who knew him, and his passion for football will not be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Luca. Your spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
